Maribel Guardia and her ex-daughter-in-law, Imelda Tuñón, are in the middle of a custody conflict over Julián, the son of Maribel and José Julián, stemming from a lawsuit filed by Imelda. The latter accused Maribel of domestic violence and illicit substance use, putting the stability of the minor at risk.

At the end of January, both personalities appeared before the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City, facing constant media questions about the issue. While Maribel Guardia supported the custody of her son, Imelda Tuñón denied the accusations and claimed that the conflict began when she discovered an alleged infidelity of Maribel's husband.

José Julián was temporarily sheltered by his paternal grandmother during the investigations, but on March 1, Imelda posted a picture holding hands with Julián. Revelations from the magazine TVyNovelas indicated that authorities visited Maribel's house in the early morning taking the minor.

Recent reports indicate that Maribel Guardia and Imelda Tuñón are prohibited from assaulting each other, according to a court order. The judge has established protection for José Julián, imposing the condition of non-aggression between the two women. If they fail to comply, they will face financial fines or up to 36 hours of arrest.

Additionally, it has been disclosed that a restraining order has been issued against Maribel Guardia to keep her away from Julián, her son. Measures that have been established to guarantee the well-being of the minor amid this family dispute.
